Layperson’s Service
Your Worship Committee is planning the Layperson’s Service for February 5 and is asking for some input from the congregation. At this time, we plan to focus on worship through music, with a hymn sing and perhaps other musical offerings. If you have a favourite hymn, one which may have a relation to a passage of scripture or a personal experience or anecdote, please provide us with the Voices United Hymn number, a short scriptural reference (or comment on a personal experience). This time, please limit your favourite to one choice. We will select some of these to work into the hymns chosen by our committee. You will find submission forms on the table in the Narthex for completion. Please submit a completed form to Beverley Johnston or Donna Darby in person or email your request to bevjohnston@cogeco.ca or ndarby@xplornet.com.

They’re Here — Kiss-O-Grams!
The Kids’ Church are selling Kiss-O-Grams! For only $2, you can send one Kiss-O-Gram to someone in the congregation! Or, you can purchase 10 Kiss-O-Grams for $15! A Kiss-O-Gram is like a Valentine (with a chocolate kiss), in which you can include a thank you message to whomever you wish in the congregation! Kiss-O-Grams will be delivered during the February 12 service. Purchase as many as you want: 5, 10, 20 or 100 Kiss-O-Grams and say a special thank you to the people in your church family! All funds raised will go towards supporting our Kids’ Church program.

A Message from Your Outreach Committee
Outreach will be hosting a delicious lunch following morning worship on Sunday, February 19. This will be out first fundraising event of the year. We will be serving homemade, mid-winter comfort food: chili, garlic bread, raw veggies and apple or lemon meringue pie for dessert. The cost will be $10 for those who are 12 and up, and $5 for ages 5 to 11. Free for under 5 years. We hope you will join us. More information to follow.

Ad Hoc Committee Questionnaire Results

The Ad Hoc Committee would like to take this time and thank all of those who took the time to fill out our questionnaire. Your input is very important to us and helpful in our search for an appointed minister (January-June 2011).
Below we have published the results of the survey. You will note that the two congregations have similar views on where the minister should spend their time, and desire similar attributes in a minister. Although the order is not the same from both congregations the actual differences were quite small.
We have reviewed resumes in the past week and we will begin the interviewing process in the coming weeks.
Ad Hoc Committee: Colleen Baeumler, Rick DeJonge, Liz Guthrie and Brent Stiles.

Faith Formation Online (from Hampack)
There are a number of spiritual communities who have chosen to use
the internet to expand their ministry by offering ways to connect with worldwide communities or explore some faith formation practices in
the privacy of our own homes. If you are looking for some paths to contemplation, here are a few sites I have recently come across:

An invitation to make a “Sacred Space” in your day, and spend ten minutes praying as you sit at your computer, with the help of on-screen guidance and scripture chosen specially every day can be found at www.sacredspace.ie and is produced by the Irish Jesuits.

“Give us awareness, O God, to experience the miracle of your presence
in our everyday world; it is in you that we live, move and have our being.” If this prayer catches your heart, then go to www.praythenews.com offered by the Carmelites of Indianapolis.

Do you have a daily commute? You can download a free daily meditation
in MP3 format from www.pray-as-you-go.org.

Do you want to read some Christian Classics? Then log on to www.ccel.org and be connected with the Christian Classic Ethereal Library.

Fellowship and Hospitality
You are welcome to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before and during the service. Coffee/tea urns are located to the right of the entrance to church on the window ledge. Linger after the service in Day Hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

Pastoral Care
If you know of any member who should receive a card from Rockwood
(in hospital, sick, special birthday or anniversary), please call Jennie Southwell 519-856-9919.
